Turkmenistan’s fuel and energy complex: half-year results and new challenges
On July 11, a reporting meeting was held at the Central Building of the Oil and Gas Complex of Turkmenistan to review the results of the past six months of the year, being held under the motto: “Independent Neutral Turkmenistan – the Homeland of Purposeful Winged Horses.” The meeting discussed the objectives set by the esteemed President Serdar Berdimuhamedov before the country's oil and gas sector at the extended sitting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan held on July 10, which focused on the development of national economic sectors in the first half of the year.
Opening the reporting meeting, the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Guvanch Agajanov emphasized President Berdimuhamedov placed great trust in workers in the oil and gas industry. The head of state is creating all the conditions for the improvement and consistent development of the industry, the modernization of production facilities and the introduction of advanced equipment, technology and innovative technologies. The Deputy Prime Minister noted key objectives had been set before the sector.
During the meeting, reports on the results of the work, completed in the first half of the year, were presented by the following:
• Chairman of the Türkmennebit State Concern Guvanch Agajanov;
• State Minister – Chairman of the Türkmengaz State Concern Maksat Babayev;
• Chairman of the Türkmengeologiýa State Corporation Berdymurat Amanov;
• Heads of associations, directorates and enterprises of the complex.
` The reports focused on the progress of the construction of the Serhetabat–Herat gas pipeline, a key stage of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) transnational gas pipeline project, the scale of the work, being carried out there, and the need to continue it in line with current demands.
At the reporting meeting, instructions and future objectives for the development of the domestic oil and gas sector were examined in detail. These included the following:
• Diversification of natural gas supplies to global markets;
• Increase in the production of oil and gas, bringing them to marketable condition and selling them in foreign markets;
• Modernization of core enterprises and consistent expansion of production capacity;
• Conduct of geological exploration and discovery of new hydrocarbon deposits;
• Manufacture of environmentally friendly products and organization of work processes taking into account weather conditions.
Deputy Prime Minister Guvanch Agajanov emphasized the importance of the continuous monitoring of major projects in the country’s oil and gas sector, the widespread adoption of digital technologies, the strict implementation of production and development plans and the ensuring of efficient work in all weather conditions.
With this in mind, specific tasks were identified for the Türkmengaz and Turkmennebit State Concerns and the Türkmengeologiýa State Corporation. In conclusion, the Deputy Prime Minister wished industry workers every success in effectively addressing the oil and gas industry development objectives set by the esteemed President Hero Arkadagly Serdar.
IOGU Faculty completed education courses at Chinese universities
Ten faculty members from the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University (IOGU) completed continuing education courses at Xi'an Petroleum University and Hebei Petroleum Vocational University, located in Xi'an and Chengde, China, from June 28 to July 7.
