At the Natural Gas Research Institute of the State Concern "Turkmengas" an advocacy and explanatory meeting was held with the participation of workers from the oil and gas industry sectors. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the consequences of harmful habits, promote a healthy lifestyle, and reinforce national moral principles.

It is known that every year on May 31, the World Health Organization (WHO) and its partners worldwide observe World No Tobacco Day. As part of the events dedicated to this date, Turkmenistan actively conducts an advocacy and educational campaign aimed at combating harmful and dangerous health habits, strengthening the principles of a healthy lifestyle, and widely involving the population in regular sports activities.

In January 2012, Turkmenistan established an Interdepartmental Coordination Committee aimed at strengthening the fight against tobacco through special control over policy implementation and law enforcement in this area. Simultaneously, "Trust" centers have been activated across all regions of the country. Through a single number, 118, anyone can anonymously receive consultations from a specialist on how to quit smoking, among other issues.

Thus, the fight against smoking in our country has a consistent, comprehensive, and systemic character. The advocacy and educational work initiated by the National Leader of the Turkmen people – Hero Arkadag and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov is aimed at the worthy continuation of national family traditions, the upbringing of a spiritually and physically healthy generation, and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle, moral, and spiritual values.

As a result, today the country has formed a sensible, purpose-driven young generation, whose representatives actively participate in the mass physical culture and sports movement, and are effectively involved in scientific, educational, cultural, and creative progress.

In the speeches of responsible employees such as the officer from Department № 4 of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkmenistan, Lieutenant Colonel Nepesgylych Halymov; a responsible worker from the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, Akjagul Ataeva; the party organizer of the Ashgabat City Committee of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan, Gulnara Akdjigitova; the technical inspector of the National Trade Unions Center of Turkmenistan for the oil and gas industry union, Geldymurad Seyitiev; the organizer of the Central Council of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan, Atajan Atajanov; and a responsible worker from the Central Council of the Mahktumkuli Youth Organization of Turkmenistan, Didar Geldyev, it was particularly emphasized that promoting a healthy lifestyle and refraining from harmful habits are priorities of the state policy.

This is evidenced by the National Program to make Turkmenistan a tobacco-free country for 2022-2025, aimed at establishing national standards to define the country's status as free from tobacco, strengthening the fight against tobacco, and increasing public awareness, especially among youth, about the negative consequences of smoking.
